container

1	An application that acts as a master program to hold and execute a set of commands or to run other software routines. For example, an application server provides a container that supports communication between an application and an Enterprise JavaBean.

2	A data structure that holds one or more different types of data. For example, in e.Report Designer Professional, a frame is a container for controls.
