state
The set of information about a client, database, or object that is relevant to an application. For example, in web applications, the client state can include information such as the pages the client has visited, any identification that the user has provided, the items the user has selected on earlier forms, and various preferences that the user expressed. Storing and accessing the client state supports continuity in web applications when users move between pages.
