Managing security roles
The Security role management option allows the administrator to create, modify, or delete a security role and configure permissions in the BIRT Analytics system. This option provides the following choices:
*Create
Choose Create to define a new role. In New role, specify the role name, provide a description, and select the functionalities or privileges to grant to the role. In Functionalities, select + to expand a functional category. Select the higher-level category to include all elements, or select individual elements in the category list to configure a more restricted subset of privileges, as shown in Figure 1‑4. Choose OK to add the role to the list of current roles.

*Create As
In Current roles, select an existing role, then choose Create As to define a new role containing the settings specified for an existing role. Create As copies the functionalities defined for the existing role to the new role definition. In Create As, specify the role name, provide a description, and select any additional functionalities or privileges to grant to the new role, as shown in Figure 1‑5.
In Functionalities, select + to expand a functional category. Select the higher-level category to include all elements, or select individual elements in the category list to configure a more restricted subset of privileges. Choose OK to add the role to the list of current roles.

*Modify
In Current roles, select an existing role, then choose Modify to change the settings specified for the existing role. In Updating role, update the role name or description, and select any additional functionalities or privileges to grant to the role, as shown in Figure 1‑6. For example, after upgrading a license to support a new plug-in, such as Campaign Workflow (Cworkflow), enable the module by assigning the functionality to a security role. Choose OK to update the role.

*Delete
In Current roles, select an existing role, then choose Delete to remove a role from the list of current roles. In Deleting role, the name, description, and list of functionalities appears, as shown in Figure 1‑7. Choose OK to confirm deleting the role from the list of current roles.

*Show Access List
Choose Show Access List to show the list of groups and users and their associated functionalities or privileges in a separate viewer, as shown in Figure 1‑8. This list provides the administrator with quick access to the list of functionalities defined for each group and user in the BIRT Analytics system. Close the viewer after reviewing the information.
