The Password policies option allows the administrator to define rules to use in specifying a user password. The option provides the following choices, as shown in Figure 1‑27:

Select any of the following items to define password policies:
Password length has to be greater than 6 characters
Password length has to be greater than 8 characters
Password length has to be greater than 10 characters
Expiration
Specify the password expires in a number of days.
Active Directory security enabled
Specify the following Active Directory items when enabling this security type:
Active Directory server connection path
Domain
Domain user
Password
To enable Active Directory security, perform the following steps:
Create a common user in both the BIRT Analytics and Active Directory environments. The user in BIRT Analytics must have precisely the same credentials as the corresponding user in the Active Directory.
Provide the user with access to all functionalities in BIRT Analytics.
Specify Password Policies and Active Directory connection information.
Test access to BIRT Analytics with the user credentials.
Link the existing profiles with the Active Directory groups to coordinate automatic user management between the LDAP server and BIRT Analytics system.
Choose Save to implement the password policy changes.
