Defining password policy
The Password policies option allows the administrator to define rules to use in specifying a user password. The option provides the following choices, as shown in Figure 1‑27:
*Password policies
Select any of the following items to define password policies:
*It must contain at least one lowercase letter
*It must contain at least one uppercase letter
*It must include at least one of these characters:
_, -, !, ·, $, %, (, ), =, |, @, #, €, *, ~, ",", ., " "
*It must include at least one number
*Password length has to be greater than 6 characters
*Password length has to be greater than 8 characters
*Password length has to be greater than 10 characters
*Expiration
Specify the password expires in a number of days.
*Active Directory security enabled
Specify the following Active Directory items when enabling this security type:
*Active Directory server connection path
*Domain
*Domain user
*Password
To enable Active Directory security, perform the following steps:
*Create a common user in both the BIRT Analytics and Active Directory environments. The user in BIRT Analytics must have precisely the same credentials as the corresponding user in the Active Directory.
*Provide the user with access to all functionalities in BIRT Analytics.
*Specify Password Policies and Active Directory connection information.
*Test access to BIRT Analytics with the user credentials.
*Link the existing profiles with the Active Directory groups to coordinate automatic user management between the LDAP server and BIRT Analytics system.
Choose Save to implement the password policy changes.
