Creating an Actuate BIRT project
An Actuate BIRT project is a container for data connection definitions, maps, information objects, and report designs. When you create a new project, BIRT Designer Professional automatically creates the following files, as shown in Figure 2‑1:
*The .project file containing a description of the project, including the project name, build command, and nature.
*The BIRTApplication.xml file.
*The index.html file.

How to create a new Actuate BIRT project
1 In BIRT Designer Professional, choose FileNewProject.
2 In New Project, in Wizards, expand Information Objects, as shown in Figure 2‑2.

3 Select BIRT Project.
Choose Next.
4 In New BIRT Project, in Project name, type the name of the project. If necessary, select Blank Project, as shown in Figure 2‑3.
Choose Finish.

5 Open Associated Perspective appears, asking if you want to open the Report Design perspective. Choose No.
BIRT Designer Professional displays the new project you created in Navigator.
