Creating a bookmark
When naming a bookmark for use in all supported BIRT applications, make sure it meets the following guidelines:
*Begins with a letter ([A-Za-z]) and may be followed by any number of letters, digits ([0-9]), hyphens ("‑"), underscores ("_"), colons (":"), and periods ("."). The letters in the name are case‑sensitive.
*Is not enclosed in single or double quotation marks; does not include spaces or the percent symbol ("%").
*Is representative of the report element being bookmarked, such as CrossTab, SummaryTable, Chart, and so on.
How to define a bookmark for a report table
1 Select and right‑click the target report element for which you want to define a bookmark, such as the report table, summary table, or cross tab element. Choose Bookmark.
2 Bookmark appears, as shown in Figure 12‑1. In Enter Bookmark, type a name for the bookmark. Choose OK.

How to define a bookmark for a report element in a section
1 Select and right‑click the chart or other report element in the section. Choose Bookmark.
2 Bookmark appears, as shown in Figure 12‑2. Select Generate Dynamic Bookmark Based on Section Value. Choose OK.

The report elements for which you define bookmarks in Report Studio can be displayed in Dashboards using a Reportlet gadget. A section‑level bookmark can be accessed in a report document file by Dashboards.
Modifying a bookmark
To edit an existing bookmark, select and right‑click the element containing the bookmark. Choose Bookmark. Then, for a table‑level bookmark, in Bookmark, edit the name of the element in Enter Bookmark.
Deleting a bookmark
To delete an existing bookmark at the report table level, in Bookmark, delete the name of the element in Enter Bookmark. If you are working with a bookmark at the report section level, deselect Generate Dynamic Bookmark Based on Section Value.
