In Report Studio, you can convert a summary table to a detail table, or a detail table to a summary table. When you change table types, the data in the original report table is lost, and must be recreated by reinserting the selected data fields.
How to convert a summary table to a detail table
1 In Report Studio, choose Turn off Auto Summarize.
A message appears and informs you that if you choose to continue, all data in the current table will be lost, as shown in Figure 4‑18. Choose OK.

2 Choose Insert to reinsert the selected fields to create a new BIRT design. Report Studio displays the chosen data fields in a detail table.
How to convert a detail table to a summary table
1 In Report Studio, choose Turn on Auto Summarize.
